How to use it

  1. 1

Load paper and pick a size

Put plain, bright white paper in the tray and set A4 or Letter to match it. Fresh paper shows color and banding most clearly.

  2. 2

    Print the test page

Click Print this test page or press P. Print at normal or best quality with scaling set to 100% / actual size so nothing is resized.

  3. 3

    Inspect the result

Hold the print next to the on-screen sheet. Check each color band, the gray ramp, the alignment marks and the smallest text for gaps, streaks or blur.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print a test page without a computer?

Most printers have a built-in self-test you start from the control panel — usually Menu → Setup or Maintenance → Print Test / Status Page, or by holding a button combo while powering on. Check your model’s manual for the exact keys. To print this particular page you do need a phone, tablet or computer with a browser.

Why does my test page print with missing colors?

A missing or washed-out color almost always means a clogged printhead nozzle or an empty, dried-out cartridge for that ink. Run a nozzle check, then your printer’s cleaning cycle, and reprint. If a channel stays blank after two or three cleanings, the cartridge or printhead likely needs replacing.

How much ink does a printer test page use?

This page is built to be thorough but economical — the bars and ramps use modest coverage, far less than a full photo. A single test print costs a fraction of a cent in ink or toner. Choose Black only to skip the color sections when you just need to check text and alignment.

Should I use A4 or Letter?

Pick whichever paper is loaded: A4 (210 × 297 mm) is standard in most of the world, Letter (8.5 × 11 in) in the US and Canada. The test patterns are identical — only the sheet proportions change, so nothing is clipped at the edges.

The test page prints fine but my documents don’t — why?

That points to software rather than hardware: a driver setting, the wrong paper or quality profile, or one app’s print options. Because this page prints correctly, your nozzles and inks are healthy — check and update the printer driver and compare the quality settings your document is using.

How often should I print a test page?

Print one whenever quality looks off, before an important job, and after changing a cartridge. If you print rarely, running a test page every couple of weeks keeps the nozzles from drying out. Regular light use is one of the best ways to prevent clogs.

Why print a test page

Catch print problems before they cost you

A printer test page is the fastest way to see exactly what your printer is doing. One sheet shows color accuracy, ink and toner coverage, nozzle health, head alignment and text sharpness together — so you can diagnose a bad print in seconds instead of burning paper on trial and error.

Every check on a single page

Instead of hunting for separate color test, nozzle check and alignment files, this all-in-one printer test page combines CMYK and RGB bars, per-channel gradients, a 21-step grayscale ramp, registration crosshairs and a 4–12 pt text ladder. Print it and read each result against the live preview.

Works with any printer, on any device

The page prints identically on inkjet and laser printers from HP, Canon, Epson, Brother and every other brand. It runs entirely in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer — nothing to install, no sign-up, and your test never leaves your device.
