Print an Epson nozzle check from the printer

  1. 1Load plain A4 or Letter paper and make sure the printer is idle.
  2. 2On models with a screen: press Home → Settings (or Setup) → Maintenance → Print Head Nozzle Check → Start.
  3. 3On models without a screen: turn the printer off, then hold the paper/stop button and press Power; keep holding until the check pattern starts printing.
  4. 4The printer prints a ladder pattern for each ink — a complete pattern means clear nozzles; broken lines mean a clog.
  5. 5If there are gaps, run Maintenance → Head Cleaning, then print the nozzle check again.

Frequently asked questions

How do I run an Epson nozzle check from the printer?

On models with a screen, choose Settings → Maintenance → Print Head Nozzle Check → Start. On models without a screen, turn the printer off, then hold the paper/stop button while pressing Power until the pattern prints. No computer is needed.

Why does my Epson print blank or with horizontal gaps?

That is the classic sign of a clogged printhead, common on EcoTank and Expression models left unused. Run Maintenance → Head Cleaning, print the nozzle check, and repeat once or twice; also confirm the ink tanks are above the lower line.

How do I clean the Epson print head?

After a nozzle check, choose Maintenance → Head Cleaning on the printer or in the Epson driver utility. Run the nozzle check again to confirm; if gaps remain after two or three cleanings, leave it a few hours before trying once more.

What does the Epson nozzle-check pattern show?

It prints a stepped ladder for each ink channel. When every segment is present and unbroken the nozzles are clear; missing segments or faint lines show which colour is clogged or low and needs cleaning.

Does this test page work with my Epson model?

Yes. The sheet is universal and prints the same on every Epson EcoTank, Expression, WorkForce and SureColor. Just print it from your browser at 100% scale on plain paper.
