Frequently asked questions

How do I print a test page on a Brother printer?

On inkjet DCP/MFC models choose Menu → Maintenance (or Ink) → Test Print → Print Quality. On HL laser models press Menu → Machine Information / Print Reports → Print Settings, or tap the Go button three times. No computer is required.

What does the Brother test print show?

On inkjets it prints colour and black blocks so you can spot faded or streaky output from a clog or low ink. On lasers the Print Settings/Configuration page lists the model, page counts and network details and shows overall print quality.

Why does my Brother test page print blank or streaky?

On inkjets this points to a clogged head or low ink — run Maintenance → Improve Print Quality and check the cartridges. On lasers, streaks or blanks usually mean low toner, an unsealed new cartridge, or a worn drum unit.

How do I improve print quality on a Brother inkjet?

Use Menu → Maintenance → Improve Print Quality to run a cleaning cycle, then print the test again. Repeat once or twice for a stubborn clog, and make sure you are using genuine or good-quality ink.

Does this test page work with my Brother model?

Yes. The sheet is universal and prints the same on every Brother DCP, MFC inkjet and HL laser. Just print it from your browser at 100% scale on plain paper.
